Patron Barcodes (What is my patron barcode?)
KU Cards and KU Library Borrower Cards
For the majoirty of borrowers with a KU Card or a KU Library Borrower Card, the patron barcode is the last 8 digits of the 16-digit number appearing on the front of the card. The number starts with 6017 4303. Enter the last 8 digits with any leading zeros, but without dashes or spaces. For example, with a number of 6017 4303 0000 1234, you would use 00001234 as the patron barcode.
KU Medical Center students, faculty, and staff have had a variety of numbers entered as barcodes in the Lawrence/Edwards circulation records, and the number used will be identified at the time privileges are established. With the issue of the new KUMC hangtags in 2008, the goal is to consistently use the barcode associated with the new hangtag as your patron barcode in Lawrence/Edwards circulation records.
For the Temporary KU Library Borrower Card issued at the time of application for a KU Library Borrower Card, the barcode is the KULBC number attached to the sheet of paper provided. Enter the letters KULBC plus the 5-digit number. For example: KULBC12345.
For the non-renewable KU Library Borrower Permit for School Group Students, the barcode is the SCH number attached to the sheet of paper provided. Enter the letters SCH plus the 5-digit number. For example: SCH12345.
For the non-renewable paper Borrower Cards issued to Summer Campers, the barcode is the SUMPRO number printed on the front or back of the card. Enter the letters SUMPRO plus the 5-digit number. For example: SUMPRO12345.
