The University of Kansas Libraries
Circulation Policy
The Murphy Art & Architecture Library is open to any on-site user. Our primary clientele are KU faculty, staff and students. Kansas residents may apply for library borrowing privileges at the circulation desk of Watson Library, 1425 Jayhawk Boulevard.
Most books in the Art & Architecture Library can be checked out with a valid KU Card for a period of 6 weeks. (KU faculty, staff, and graduate students have a loan period of 4 months). Media items from the Art Video/DVD Collection may be checked out for one week. Materials on loan may be recalled at any time from any borrower.
On site course reserve materials will have varying loan periods depending on the instructor. Some items may be used only in the library while others may be checked out for short periods.
Books which cannot be checked out are identified with a stamp in the back of the volume reading NON-CIRCULATING.
Items which may only be used in the library include:
- Journals (both bound and unbound issues)
- The Reference collection
- The Closed Stacks collection
- Catalogues raisonnés (the complete record of an artist's work)
- Museum collection catalogues
- Oversize items
- Items valued at more than $500
