Diversity committee notes
3 March ‘04
Present: Erin, Chanette, Pamela, Michelle, Julie
It was noted that Heather and Rebecca will be quitting the committee after the exhibit set-up is complete.
Discussion of the Students with Disabilities brown bag last week. Chanette talked about how others who attended the bb were “touched and uplifted” by Chikako Mochizuki and her drive to succeed. There was some discussion about the new software that is/will be available and how to let people know about it (both in the libraries and the university community).
Erin will be sending thank you cards to Mary Ann Resnack and Chikako.
We talked about having a roundtable discussion in the next month (late March/early April) in which Erin or someone would send out a couple of articles to read to interested persons, then meet over lunch for an informal talk.
Exhibit! Talked about who is doing what (ie Michelle will be looking
for movie poster scans, setting up, etc). Erin and I talked about what
we had found at the Spencer Research library earlier in the day. We confirmed
that we should include our committee’s mission statement in the
introductory display cabinet on 3rd floor.
“What brings this all together?”
We agreed to take April “off” as far as doing anything (except maybe a roundtable discussion). The exhibit will come down in mid-April. In May we will have a Brown Bag or a presentation Erin, Chanette and Julie return form the conference in Atlanta.
As a group, we went to the 4th floor to look at the display cases and figure out what topic was going where and other display cabinet issues. Questions about details can be directed to Erin.
