Spring Mini Conference
-Name: From Talking to Twooshing: Communication in Today's World
-Nancy sent email with links to Centron films. Julie sent this to Tami & Sarah.
-Julie submitted catering order. They did not have mini-bagels. Ordered food anticipating 40 people.
-Should we supply everyone with a pen and note pad or leave to them to bring their own? Decision for everyone to bring their own but to have a few to supply to those who didn't bring pen & paper.
-Handouts:
*Provide handouts with list of articles (like the UDK article on Tweeting) or extra
resources.
*List of social networking sites
*Texting language
*Definitions (local terms, generational terms, etc.)
*Quiz (millennial quiz that Sheila found
http://pewresearch.org/millennials/quiz/index.php.) This quiz is copyrighted so it might be best to email this link to everyone. This way we're not publishing the quiz and infringing on the copyright. Nancy will check with George on this to make sure we won't be violating copyright.
*Diacritics
(Nancy can talk to Jeff Lewis about this)
*23 Things Kansas (social networking communication) - Sheila can contact them about using this site.
*Favorite search engines
-Email from Tracy:
*She can connect a couple of ideas around generations for her presentation.
*How long should her presentation be? We would like her to talk for about 1 hour plus time for questions (from 9:00-10:00ish)
*She doesn't have any quizzes to provide; however, she suggested a quiz on social and cultural knowledge that is classified as part of the generations. She can get a document to by the beginning of the week of the conference. Nancy will confirm with Tracy to provide this quiz.
-Send email to groups asking them to RSVP by March 15th but include statement that we would prefer to know if you are coming but you can still come even if you don't RSVP.
-Create survey for people to fill out after the conference to give us an idea of what worked and what didn't, what people liked and what they didn't. There is information on past surveys on the G drive under KULSS
-Fliers (merge Nancy and Julie's fliers). Try to get the fliers out Friday or Monday. Nancy will send Julie her flier and Julie can play around with it on Photoshop and send out a draft for committee approval.
-Doorprize:
*Pot of gold (chocolate) - Nancy could supply this.
*Flash drive (Nancy will contact Rebecca Smith about this).
-Gift for Tracy: Pen set with KU Libraries on it and other library related paraphernalia that Rebecca can supply to us.
-Because we can't put anything that wasn't catered on the refreshments table we could instead walk around with baskets of chocolates/candies as a way to mingle with the crowd.
-Committee members need to try to be at the Union around 8:00 to help set up.
