Classified Conference Executive Board
Meeting Minutes
Jan 25, 2005
Watson 5th Floor Conf Rm 1:00-2:30pm

PRESENT: Rebecca Claassen (Grp 1), Monica Claassen-Wilson (Vice-Chair), Laura Horne (Chair), Erin Kidwell (Diversity Committee), Angie Rathmel (Secretary), Denise Swartz (Grp 3), Robert Szabo (Grp 4)

Committee Reports

SDC
Meeting once a month and have 12 members (13 with vacant classified). Since it is so late in the year, and with IS added participation. CCEB will forego recruiting the remaining classified seat.

Classified Senate
Are in the process of coming up with electronic updates to all classified staff university-wide. Consider eliminating the inconsistency of individual update reports. Nothing officially stated.

For CCEB we will continue to keep in contact with Classified Senate for updates until official electronic updates are released.

Bill to Alternative to Civil Service went into the House this month. See FYI. Classified Senate has lunched with our rep who helped write the bill. CCEB will look into the bill and how it compares to our understanding of the Alt Civil Service proposal that was voted on. Questions we find will be referred to Classified Senate.

Mary Ann forwarded Senate Library Committee minutes to Monica. (see attached)

Regroup/Recruit CCPC
Form group and may edit charges regarding dates to report back to CCEB by end Apr 2005. See Laura’s action item re: emailing interested members. Ask to meet on a specific date.

CCEB listserv
Is anyone using it? MaryAnn Baker is monitoring this. Will eliminate this listerv b/c 1) no member on CCEB is using it 2) constant turnover creates difficulty in keeping it up to date.

Group Reports
Grp 1
Gail Underwood, unclassified hired. Busy with E-reserves
Grp 2
LAII in Support Services Unit filled by Erin Kidwell. LAI Copy Cataloging filled. Now vacant LAI in Authorities Unit

Unclassified position for Head of Copy Cataloging readvertised.

Outsourced card cataloging to OCLC for materials to be shifted to permanent storage.

Grp 3 & Grp 4
Student time-in/out system will have dedicated machine in Anschutz and Watson (without biometric component for the time being).

Nikhat Ghouse now supervising KUINFO students (half who resigned). Rehired though still down from 16 to 10 students.

Spencer closed two Saturdays in a row due to fire and testing light fixtures. Bayliss Harsh is moved to Anschutz. Channette Kirby is no longer moving over to Anschutz.

Agenda Items for Stella and Sharon
1) Ask about bringing concern to larger group re: inclement whether policy (esp in Provost’s absence).
2) HR Librarian Search status
3) Status of the permanent storage facility
