Meeting Minutes
Thursday, November 3, 2005
Music & Dance Library – 10-11:30 am


PRESENT: Monica Claassen-Wilson (FY06 Chair), Rebecca Claassen (FY06 Vice-Chair), Jill Becker (Group 3), Denise Swartz (Group 1), Robert Szabo (Group 4), Kevin Fussell (Group 2)

ABSENT: Angie Rathmel (Secretary)


Previous meeting’s minutes approved. Monica will post minutes.

Review of previous meeting’s action items.

1. Review Classified Employee of the Year Award (CEYA) info on KULSS website
2. Approved edits to KULSS code and guidelines
3. Put together draft of concerns to present at next meeting with Dean/HR Librarian – next meeting
4. Monica emailed list of names to Denise Stephens for serving on Dean’s search committee.

Diversity Committee

Support Staff Senate

Position paper, written by the English Department, is circulating among the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to get other departments to support.

CEYA changes

This is not a lifetime achievement award and this should somehow be reflected in the guidelines. The name changed from CEYA to SSEYA (Support Staff Employee of the Year Award). We will discuss these changes in the next meeting.

Orientation issues

(Monica’s meeting with Donna and Judith – LFA Chair)

Donna was receptive to suggestions and suggested we talk to other Support Staff to find out what they would like to have had when they started working here. They want to put together some sort of standard orientation for Support Staff. KULSS-Exec group reps will ask their groups for suggestions to be submitted by 12:00 pm 11/7/05.

Staff Development Committee (SDC) – An Information Services wide SDC is being formed but it is on hold.

Organizational Development group – possibility of the first day being a day long orientation.
