About This Program

"LibArt: Student Art in the Libraries" is a year-long exhibition organized and sponsored by KU Libraries which offers students the opportunity to display their artwork in the libraries' public spaces.

A few common questions:

Why should I participate?

    • It’s easy to apply.
    • You can add this exhibition to your resumé.
    • Thousands* of people will see your work.

(*Roughly 750,000 people visited Anschutz Library last year, and about 470,000 came to Watson.)

Who runs this program?

LibArt is organized by a committee whose membership includes KU Libraries staff and faculty with art and/or art history backgrounds.

Can I submit my work to the LibArt exhibit AND the spring scholarship shows coordinated by the art and design departments?

Yes. You can submit digital images of a piece to the LibArt program, then submit the actual work to the scholarship show a few weeks later.

When will I find out if my work has been accepted for display?

We will contact all applicants via e-mail within 10 days of the submission deadline.

If my work is selected, when will I need to deliver it?

We ask that selected art be delivered to the libraries by the end of finals week. It should be ready to hang - matted, mounted or framed, with hanging wire or brackets. We’ll be in touch with you to discuss specific details and will take care of hanging and labeling.

And you’d like to show my work the entire year?

Yes. The show will run from August - May, so we’ll be in touch to coordinate pick-up the following spring.
