Courtney Foat, Jayhawk of the Month for February 2010
I was incredibly grateful, though completely blind sided by the announcement," Courtney said. "Particularly after having helped to prepare that month’s certificate for what turned out to have been a “decoy” Jayhawk."
"I appreciate that each Jayhawk is charged with dubbing the subsequent month’s winner, an approach which not only reinforces the egalitarian nature of the award but also gives recipients the added satisfaction of recognizing someone else’s exceptional work," Courtney said. "The positive effects of staff recognition radiate far beyond the reinforcement of an individual person; such awards can spur all employees to become increasingly aware and appreciative of their colleagues’ daily contributions, thus enhancing the overall health of the organization."
