Rita Wilson, Jayhawk of the Month for May 2010

Following a hiatus during the month of April, the Traveling Jayhawk took flight on a direct course to Rita Wilson in May.

Bayliss Harsh cited Rita's "dedication to doing all she can for the people she serves, combined with her positive, warm and friendly manner" as deserving of recognition.

" She has been a great ambassador for the KU Libraries for a long time, and it is a pleasure to have her excellent work recognized with this award," Bayliss said.

"I was embarrassed, but really surprised (mostly flattered) that Bayliss, whom I admire as a Library employee and person, would even think of me," Rita said after receiving the award.

"I think the whole process was a great idea.  I personally think it is special to recognize staff in this fun manner and I look forward each month to guessing the mystery person of the month – I am about 50/50 so far."

Rita's odds for the month of June should increase significantly as she will be choosing the next recipient. Who will it be?
