Circulation back to top

A valid KU card, a KU Library Borrower Card, or a KU Library Proxy Card is required to check out materials.  Click here to connect to the Online Catalog.

Note: Individuals who are not affiliated with the University may be eligible to purchase a KU Library Borrower Card for $10.00. For information about eligibility and library privileges, please contact Jennifer Mellenbruch, Circulation Manager at (913) 897-8571 or jmellenbruch@ku.edu.

On-Site Access

Even when not authorized for borrowing privileges, users have on-site access to the University of Kansas Libraries, where many, but not all items in the collection can be accessed and read on the premises. All library users, regardless of affiliation, may use most library databases while visiting the KU Libraries.

Recalls back to top

Items may be recalled online by accessing the online catalog or staff may assist you in placing a recall at the Regents Center Library. Long-term loan materials may be recalled immediately from any borrower. A notice will immediately be sent to the borrower, and the item must be returned within 14 days of the date on the notice to avoid a fine.

Renewals

Unlimited renewals may be made as long as the item has not been recalled. KU borrowers may renew an item online five times, and resident borrowers may renew online twice. Once you reach the online renewal limit, you must bring the item to a KU library for renewal. Reserve material may only be renewed from the library it resides. Renewal of materials by telephone, fax, or email is not currently available.

Fines

Fines on overdue items checked out may be paid at the Fines Office in the Watson Library on the Lawrence campus. The Regents Center Library will provide an addressed envelope for those who wish to mail their fine payment to the main campus.

Document Delivery & Interlibrary Loan

Currently enrolled students, KU faculty and staff are eligible for book and document delivery for available items owned by other KU libraries. Materials available for borrowing include books, journal articles, ERIC microfiche and interlibrary loan for items not owned by the KU Libraries. If you have questions regarding document delivery or interlibrary loan, please contact Susan Bailey, Document Delivery Manager at (913) 897-8435 or sebailey@ku.edu.

Photocopying

The Regents Center Library has two photocopy machines available for making copies from print resources for 10 cents per page. These machines accept coins or $1.00 or $5.00 bills.

There is also a microfilm reader/printer that will make copies from film or fiche for 15 cents per page. The machine will accept ONLY one dime and one nickel for each copy.

The library staff cannot make refunds for money lost in any of these machines, but they can make replacement copies if you ask at the circulation desk.

Journals back to top

Journals are shelved alphabetically by title in current periodicals, the stacks, and microfilm or microfiche. To verify that the library owns a journal title, please check the KU online catalog or the print index at the circulation desk.

Reference Services

Library staff are available to assist in locating information, conducting research, and in using both print and electronic library resources. Students and faculty are encouraged to call (913) 897-8570 or email the library to make an appointment with one of our staff for help with research projects or with learning to use specific databases.

Library Instruction

Librarians provide instruction in the use of library services and resources. Course related lectures and orientation to library services can be arranged at mutually convenient times by calling (913) 897-8572, or by email. To ensure librarian and classroom availability, arrangements should be made as soon as course schedules are complete for each academic period.
