Watson Library Reference Collection Review – Updated 7/29/08

We are continuing to review the main reference collection in Watson Library and invite your participation in this process. Online forms for faculty input will be available through September 2, 2008. Please be aware that the materials on these shelves have not been reviewed in recent years. To facilitate decisions about their retention in the reference collection, we have divided our review into two parts.

Part 1 – Serial Titles Review

The first part of the review is for serials titles. Examples of serials are travel guides and print indexes such as the Alternative Press Index or the Official Index to the Times. Click the link below for lists of serials by call number. These lists give serial titles our librarians have flagged for transfer to the stacks. They also provide an opportunity for you to request that we reconsider transfer. There is a short, separate list of titles flagged to move to the annex. Please remember that materials transferred to the Annex or to the stacks can be requested for faculty office delivery using the Tripsaver service (http://www.lib.ku.edu/tripsaver/).

Part 2 – Monograph Titles Review

The second part of the review is for monograph titles. The listed titles, recently reviewed by our librarians, are recommended for relocation to the stacks or the Annex. You are invited to review these lists and request that we reconsider transfer. We need your comments by September 2, 2008. Titles transferred to the Annex or the stacks can be requested for faculty office delivery using the Tripsaver service (http://www.lib.ku.edu/tripsaver/).

More detail about the reference review can be found in the accompanying Q & A. If you have questions, please contact Lea Currie (lcurrie@ku.edu), Head of Collection Development or Fran Devlin (fadevlin@ku.edu), Reference Services Coordinator.
