Recall
What is Recall?
- Recall is a service where KU patrons can request to have a checked-out item (six weeks or longer) to be returned to any of the KU Libraries Service Desks or Bookdrops.

Who is eligible for Recall?
- Anyone who is affiliated with KU (faculty, staff, students).

Who is not eligible for Recall?
- Resident borrowers are not eligible for Recall.

What items are not available for Recall?
- Short-term loan items (checked out for two weeks or less) cannot be recalled.

Where are Recall items delivered?
- Recall items are delivered to the KU Libraries Service Desk of your choice.

How will I be notified when my materials are available for pick up?
- You will receive an Item Available Notice via email letting you know you can pick up your materials from the KU Libraries Service Desk you chose as a pick up location.
- NOTE: Items will remain on the hold shelf for 10 days from the day that you received your Item Available Notice and then will be taken off and returned to the library stacks.

How long will it take to receive my Recall items?
- A Recall notice will immediately be sent to the current borrower who has the checked-out item being recalled. The item must be turned in by the New Due Date specified in the notice in order to avoid a fine. The current borrower has fourteen days to return the recalled item. Once the recalled item is returned, it will be placed on the hold shelf at the designated KU Libraries Service desk the requestor chose, and the requestor will be sent an Item Available Notice via email.

How do I Recall an item?
- 1. First look up the item in KU Libraries Library Catalog.
- 2. Once your have found the record for the item and the availability status states checked-out, click on "Recalls and Requests" button at the top of the web page.
- 3. Login using your KU username and password (as in your KU email account).
- 4. Select Recall from the drop down menu and click OK.
- 5. Complete the form and select the pick up location of your choice and submit.
