As Program Assistant, I manage the International Area Studies service desk which provides general reference services to KU students and the public. This includes the training and supervision of student assistants who work at the desk.  In addition, I assist the librarian for Spanish and Portuguese; Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Specifically, I teach research instruction sessions for Spanish 324 courses, along with designing related subject and course guides, and curating book exhibits.  I am also responsible for processing Spanish and Portuguese approval shipments in the Acquisitions department.

Special interests

Spanish and Portuguese.  Information literacy and research skills related to Spanish and Portuguese; Latin American and Caribbean Studies.  I am also interested in Spanish language pedagogy and the expanding use of digital media in the process of language teaching and learning.

Additional interests:  Guatemala and Kaqchikel.  Transition year from 12th to college freshman
