Thursday, October 13, 2016

Kevin L. Smith, dean of KU Libraries, has been elected to the HathiTrust Board of Governors. KU Libraries are a member of HathiTrust—an institutional cooperative that offers researchers access to millions of digitized titles from around the world. The HathiTrust Board of Governors has ultimate responsibility for HathiTrust's activities, strategy, finances and operations.

Smith joined KU Libraries as dean in May, previously serving as the director of copyright and scholarly communications at Duke University. He has previously served on the SPARC Steering Committee, the Advisory Board for the HathiTrust Copyright Review Management System and the Board of Directors of the Dryad Data Repository. He will begin his new role on the Board of Governors in January 2017 for a three-year term.
