GIS and Data Lab
The GIS and Data Lab assists the KU community with many types of digital data, including geospatial, quantitative, tabular, and textual data. We can help you collect, organize, analyze, and visualize your data, and with access to related software and tools. We are located on the 4th floor of Watson Library in room 425, the sunroom across from the main staircase. Drop in and use the Lab whenever Watson is open (Hours). You can also contact us with questions and/or to set up a consultation with a staff member (at right). Many of the powerful computers have two monitors, and workstations facilitate individual or group work, and allow users to try out and use specialized software and data that is not likely installed on personal or other public computers. This includes:
- Adobe Design Suite Pro
- ArcGIS custom map with local data: Local_GIS.mxd on desktop
- Business Analyst: ArcGIS with specialized data & tools for market planning, territory design, marketing, etc.
- Camtasia Studio 7
- Colectica Express
- Google Earth Pro: geocodes in bulk, reads shapefiles
- oXygen XML Editor
