Spanish Languages and Literatures


The catalog of the Center for Research Libraries which has a large collection of primary sources and other unique materials. CRL collections are available via Interlibrary Loan.

A collection of popular movie periodicals from the archives of Filmoteca de la UNAM in Mexico City. It includes chief magazines such as Cinema Reporter (1943-1965) and Cine Mundial (1954-1955). It also features extremely rare copies of El Cine Grafico from 1935 and of the weekly El Mundo Ilustrado (1902-1910). The true extent of the popularity of Mexican film is illustrated by Cinelandia (1931-1947), which was published in Hollywood both in Spanish and in English. This collection also includes dozens of film flyers, which were distributed on the streets to lure people into the cinema. Finally, this collection gives access to the personal scrap books of Fernando de Fuentes (1894-1958), one of the leading Latin-American filmmakers to this day.

Digitalia Film Library has over 800 quality documentaries and films distributed in the following collections: Argentine Cinema, European Cinema, French Collection, History, Latin American Selection, Nature and Wildlife, North American Classic Cinema, Spanish Cinema, Cuban Cinema and Travel Documentary. 

Fuente académica is a collection of full-text scholarly journals from Latin America, Portugal and Spain. Topics include history, literature, politics, business, current events, economics, biological sciences, philosophy, psychology, public administration, religion, sociology and more. Coverage for most titles begins in the 2000s. Content is updated on a weekly basis and currently offers the full text for more than 500 publications from 18 countries.

Informe Academico (formerly Informe: revistas en espanol) is the first reference database to provide indexing, full text, and images of the most popular Spanish language magazines and bilingual periodicals. Provides access to the full text of more than 140 Spanish language and bilingual products, covering a wide range of subject matter from current events to academic interests. Features bilingual citations to help non-Spanish speaking navigate easily through the database.

A collection of medical research and investigatory journals from Latin American and Spanish publishers. This Spanish language database contains the table of contents and full text for 130 peer-reviewed medical journals.

This resource is supported through collaborative efforts between the KU Libraries and the State Library of Kansas.

Provides 165 full-text scholarly journals in the social sciences and humanities for the interdisciplinary academic study of Hispanic and Latin America and the Caribbean Basin. Articles are in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and examine all aspects of Hispanic Studies. Works together and complements HAPI (Hispanic American Periodicals Index). Also offers full-text key titles indexed by HAPI.

An electronic virtual library covering a selected collection of scientific journals of Latin America, the Caribbean countries and Spain. As the project develops, new journal titles will be added in the library collection. The full-text content is in English, Portuguese and/or Spanish.
