IGEL - Staffing & Leadership


Director

A part-time Director (25-50% FTE) will lead the Institute during the start-up phase, laying the groundwork for future growth and development. The Director will:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for IGEL's development
  • Coordinate initial operations and planning
  • Establish and maintain connections with stakeholders of international initiatives at KU.
  • Develop and coordinate KU Libraries' key international partnerships
  • Represent IGEL in select global forums and initiatives
  • Develop budget plans and explore funding opportunities in coordination with the Office of Communication and Advancement
  • Ensure alignment with Jayhawks Rising and the KU Libraries' strategic plan

Note: The Director's role may evolve into a full-time position, and staffing needs may increase, as the Institute grows and as resources allow.

 

Implementation Team

An internal, cross-divisional implementation team will guide IGEL's development, bringing together expertise from across KU Libraries. The implementation team will meet monthly (or at determined regular intervals) to:

  • Provide guidance and support for the Institute
  • Develop and review strategic directions aligned with Jayhawks Rising and KU Libraries' strategic plan
  • Identify and evaluate potential partnerships and initiatives
  • Transform plans into concrete action items
  • Monitor the Institute's progress and assess its impact
  • Other topics relevant to the development of IGEL

Key representation on the implementation team will come from:

  • Distinctive Collections
  • Research Engagement
  • Acquisitions & Resource Sharing
  • Communications and Advancement
  • Faculty and Community Engagement Librarian

 

Working Groups

Task-specific working groups may be established as needed to:

  • Address targeted objectives
  • Execute specific projects
  • Support specialized initiatives
  • Provide focused expertise
