KU Libraries, The Commons to host presentation by author Kathleen Fitzpatrick on Jan. 27

The University of Kansas Libraries and The Commons will host a keynote presentation by Kathleen Fitzpatrick, author of “Generous Thinking: A Radical Approach to Saving the University,” on Wednesday, January 27, 9:30 a.m., via Zoom.

In her book, Fitzpatrick urges academics to think critically, constructively, and generously — a mode of engagement that she describes as listening over speaking, community over individualism and collaboration over competition.

Fitzpatrick is director of Digital Humanities and professor of English at Michigan State University. She is also the author of “Generous Thinking: The University and the Public Good” and "Planned Obsolescence: Publishing, Technology, and the Future of the Academy." Fitzpatrick serves on the editorial and advisory boards of numerous publications and is vice-president/president-elect of the Association for Computers and the Humanities.

Those who plan to attend may register online. This event is free and open to the public.
