Institute for Digital Research in the Humanities sponsors ninth annual Digital Humanities Forum
The ninth annual University of Kansas Digital Humanities Forum will be held October 3-4, 2019, at the Burge Union on the KU campus.
Sponsored by the Institute for Digital Research in the Humanities, the 2019 forum is themed “Bodies, Justice, Futures.” With this focus, the Digital Humanities Forum hopes to inspire participants to think about the ways in which we envision and build toward just futures for individual and collective bodies from around the globe.
The Digital Humanities Forum brings together faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students from KU and beyond to celebrate and explore digital scholarship as a diverse and growing field of humanist inquiry.
The Digital Humanities Forum has been held annually since 2011, exploring a different theme each year, and attracting around 100 participants. The Institute for Digital Research in the Humanities is supported by a partnership between KU Libraries, the Hall Center for the Humanities, and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
This year’s forum will include two days of free digital humanities workshops, keynote talks, panel presentations, a digital showcase, and more. Pre- and post- conference workshops will take place on October 2 and October 5.
The keynote speakers this year are Janet Chávez Santiago, Zapotec weaver and language activist; Julian Chambliss, professor of English at Michigan State University; and Denisa Kera, Marie Curie research fellow at the University of Salamanca.
Everyone is welcome to attend the forum, from digital novices to seasoned digital humanists. There is no cost to register, but space is limited. Registration will close September 22.
The forum is made possible by sponsorship from departments across campus.
