“At War with the New Frontier and Great Society, On the Defensive in Vietnam: Correspondence between Kansans and U.S. Representative Robert J. Dole, 1964-1968” presentation on November 6

Monday, November 6, 2017

KU Libraries will host a Gallery Lecture Series presentation by Ray Mizumura-Pence, Ph.D., from the Department of American Studies, on Monday, November 6 from 2:30-4 p.m. in Watson Library, third floor West. This is the second presentation of the fall Gallery Lecture Series.

In this presentation, Mizumura-Pence will discuss World War II’s impact on the life and political career of Robert J. “Bob” Dole. He will highlight specific correspondence in which Kansas engaged Dole in conversation about the Vietnam War, and how this correspondence influenced Dole’s rise to power.

The fall Gallery Lecture Series is developed in conjunction with the Haricombe Gallery exhibition, “Resist and Respect: Kansas respond to the Vietnam War.” The Gallery Lecture Series features interdisciplinary lectures and creative works from scholars and researchers across campus.

This lecture is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be provided. For more information, visit the Gallery Lecture Series webpage.
