New York Times (Academic Site License)

How to register for access to the New York Times

1.            Visit the NYTimes Academic Site License access page.

2.            Search for and select "University of Kansas - Lawrence, Kansas”

3.            You will be redirected to the NYTimes registration page.

4.            Click "Create Account" (or see instructions for Existing New York Times ID).

5.           Complete fields using your @ku.edu email account.  The email address and password you create will become your login credentials; please DO NOT use your KU password to create your account.

6.            Verify your account in the confirmation email.  You must click the link in this email to complete the registration. The confirmation email may be routed to your spam folder.

7.           Select the option for Student or Faculty/Staff pass and click Sign Up.

8.           Students will also select their graduation year, the point through which access extends.  Faculty/staff will have 4 years of access, after which they must re-authenticate via NYTimes Academic Site License access page.

Existing New York Times ID

If you have previously registered your @ku.edu email address on The New York Times site, you will click the "Already have an account?" link found below “Create Account” and log in with the same school issued email address and password previously registered.

Newspaper source plus

Provides cover-to-cover full text for 149 national & international newspapers and selective full text for 410 U.S newspapers. The database also contains full-text television & radio news transcripts.

Nexis Uni

Provides access to more than 15,000 full-text news, legal and business sources. Includes journal articles, television and radio broadcasts, newswires, and blogs; local, regional, national and international newspapers; legal sources for federal and state cases and statutes, including U.S. Supreme Court decisions since 1790; business information on 80 million U.S. and international companies and 75 million executives. Replaces LexisNexis Academic.

Regional business news

Provides full-text coverage to 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires covering all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States. 

TOPICsearch

Contains full text for articles from diverse sources exploring current events in social, political & economic issues.

Wall Street Journal (WSJ access)

How to register for access to The Wall Street Journal

  1.      Visit the University of Kansas’ access page.
  2.      You will be directed to KU’s Single Sign-On. Log in to your KU Account.
  3.      You will be redirected to WSJ.com. Complete the registration fields using your KU email address to create your account.
  4.      The email address and password you create will become your login credentials; please DO NOT use your KU credentials to create your account.

Once you’ve registered, you can access Wall Street Journal content via the web, as well as via apps for smartphones and tablets.

If you are a student, your account will stay active until your graduation date. Faculty and staff will need to refresh their membership annually to confirm they are still affiliated with KU.

If you already have a personal paid subscription, you can call 1-800-JOURNAL (1-800-568-7625) to cancel your individual subscription and switch to the membership through KU; you will be refunded the remaining balance. Once canceled, you can then activate your KU membership.
